Getting Started with Lync

To log into the Office 365 portal navigate to, enter your Office 365 email address and password, then click Sign In.

Once logged in click the Gear icon in the upper right-hand corner then select Office 365 Settings.

On the Office 365 settings page click Software.

On the software page click Lync then click Install.

After the install finishes Lync should start automatically and give you a log in screen.

Note: If you do not see the Lync window appear automatically navigate to Start > All Programs > Microsoft Office 2013 > click on Lync 2013 to launch the program.

Type your full email address in the Sign-In Address field then click Sign-In. If this is your first time signing in you will see another field for password appear. Now you can enter your Office 365 password and click Sign-In again.

If this is the first time you have signed in you will also see a window asking if you want to save your Lync sign-in info. If you click Yes Lync will automatically start the next time your machine is started. If you click No you will need to enter your log in information each time your machine is started.

Congratulations! You have signed into Lync! Now you can search for other users in your organization and correspond with them using instant messaging.
