Exporting contacts from iCloud for Outlook 2010

If you have an iPhone, chances are you have setup the new iCloud account and have contacts that you would like to import into Outlook.

NOTE: We highly recommend creating a SUB-FOLDER under your primary contacts folder such as iCloud Contacts or whatever you wish. Then, perform the following steps. It is much easier to move the contacts to another folder than it is to remove them from your other contacts if they are not formatted correctly.

1. Connect to iCloud

1. Connect to iCloud

Login to your iCloud account by going to www.icloud.com.

2. Select ALL Contacts

2. Select ALL Contacts

Click the Gears icon and choose Select All

3. Exporting Contacts

Click the Gears icon Again and choose Export vCard

4. Saving the vCard file

4. Saving the vCard file

The screen in Step 3 was created using Mozilla Firefox. This will vary depending on your default browser. Save the file to your desktop.

CAUTION: In Google Chrome you will have the option to open the file in the browser. Do NOT do this or it will open multiple windows (i.e., if you have 600 contacts, it will open 600 windows).

5. vCard to CSV Converter

Go to the following website for a free vCard to CSV converter: Click Here

Browse to the saved .vcf file on your desktop and change the format to CSV, Comma and select the Add header line option

Click Convert

The conversion will only take a minute or two.

6. Save the .csv file

6. Save the .csv file

After conversion, you will be prompted to save the new CSV file. You can save it also to your desktop and even use the same name.

Note: This is a different type (format) of file, so you will have a .VCF and now a .CSV on your desktop.

7. Go to Outlook 2010

Select the File menu, and then select Options

13. Select Target Folder

Select the destination folder you wish to import the iCloud contact into, then click Next

Note: I previously created an empty iCloudOnly folder for this purpose. I can move them later, if I wish. It's easier to move them after the import than to REMOVE them from your primary contacts folder. If you wish to do this now. Simply cancel the import wizard, create the folder and begin with Step 7.

14. Finish Up

14. Finish Up

The last screen will ask if you want to map fields. This "normally" is not needed. Simply click Finish.
